GREETINGS! BLB13 is just a week away. If you're reading this, you're a huge part of why this golf outing and fundraiser is going so strong. Thank you for all your support over the years.
SELL-OUT: This year may be the first year we sell out, as we have just two group spots remaining. Every year we've done this we've grown, and this year is no different. There are also two groups seeking individuals to fill them up, so if you're a single golfer feel free to register and we can place you. If you haven't registered yet, you can do so at blbmemorial.org/register. As long as there's registration available online, we have room. I'll take it down when we sell out, which we're hoping happens this weekend!
CAUSE: This year we are supporting an effort called Sid's Space, which is a swirling fundraising effort to honor a young boy named Sid, who we lost far too soon at the age of 4 in a tragedy near the shores of Lake Erie. Sid's Space is aiming to raise $100,000 to name a wing of the new library in Bay Village after him, and they have raised $25,000 thus far in just under 2 years. With construction beginning a few weeks ago on the new library, we are doing all we can to help them get closer as their deadline approaches. Our goal this year is $15,000 to get them over 40% of the way there!
VIDEO: To learn more about Sid, Betty Lou, and the outing you can watch our video here: https://youtu.be/H5CcYSCPZM8
VOLUNTEERS: We've had outstanding response to our request for volunteers this year. We need lots of helping hands to make this day as smooth and classy as possible. Our goal is always a first-class event that not only raises money, but honors the person and cause we are supporting. And we need your help to do this. To volunteer, please fill in your specific availability on our sheet at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tJT8bMC0y-X2pENu_mbmrZIo9yMw7ubgzn9wNzds34A/edit?usp=sharing
NEW THIS YEAR: One upgrade to the golfer experience (and reason for the need for more volunteers) is a bag drop off process for the golfers. Instead of them parking and lugging their bags around (they never know where to put their bags, where their cart is, etc.), we will be taking their bags in front, tagging them with special Sid-themed bag tags, and placing them on their carts for them. We expect this to make things much easier on golfers as they check in and get situated.
SURPRISE: This year an iconic Cleveland legend will be greeting golfers as they check in. Do you have a guess who it could be?
PHOTOGRAPHER: This year we will also - for the first time in outing history - have a professional photographer taking shots. Feel free to grab your foursome, head over to the photodrop, and take a picture - with or without our Cleveland legend!
PUTTING/CHIPPING CONTESTS: These will be set up as early as 12:30 for you to start participating in. Both of these get busy as we get closer to the cutoff of 1:50 for each, so if you see an opportunity to take your turn step right up. Extra contest tickets as well as Super Tickets will again be for sale at the check-in table.
EAT AND HANG: Not a golfer but still want to be a part of the day? Swing by and grab a drink, some food, raffle prize tickets, or a t-shirt anytime throughout the day. We always have a good group going on the patio there at Roses Run. Dinner is served at 7:30, and dinner/t-shirt tickets are available at blbmemorial.org/register
50-50: Our 50-50 is live, and will run through the outing right up until we draw the winner at 7:30 next Saturday. To enter, text "Sid" to 855-202-2100. Half of your entry funnels directly to Sid's Space, while the other half is up for grabs to win!
WELCOME BACK: BLB is thrilled to welcome back both Chuck Modzelewski and Brad Davis, each of which were huge parts of our outing the previous two years in both '20 and '19 (BLB for Chuck in '19 and BLB for Davis in '20). It's fun to welcome back those we've gotten to know over the past few years as they now help pass on the love and support the next generation of BLB. These guys are BLB royalty!
LIVE SCORING: We will again be doing live scoring through our 18 Birdies app this year. Please download the app and join our tournament using the code 4146. This is how we score, and gives live access to how your team is doing - both in gross and net. Please bring a battery backup as this thing does eat your phone battery quite a bit!
THANK YOU: We want to send out a formal thank you to the corporate and individual sponsors who have been so generous towards this event and fundraising efforts:
